Outdoor Activities on Skye
If you fancy experiencing our stunning scenery on horseback or while enjoying an unforgettable round of golf, then you have several choices, all less than an hours drive from the White Heather, both on Skye or in Lochalsh. We are more than happy to make bookings for our guests, either in advance of your stay or once you're with us, when you've seen the weather!! A unique option for families, is the "Own a Pony Day", at Portree Riding Stables, where children (usually aged 5 yrs +) can have a break from their parents, from 10am - 3pm, at the same time as having a full on horsey day!
A couple of the more extreme activities you might fancy, are land sailing and paintball, both are also available on Skye!

Glenshiel Pony Trekking
All of our Highland pony treks are customised according to your group's requirements and horse riding experience. Pony treks are done in groups of a maximum of six riders, providing you with a highly personalised service. We offer a selection of pony treks ranging from a days pony trek into the hills to an hours ride along the shore of Loch Duich, all in stunning, dramatic settings in the Scottish Highlands.
Enjoy amazing scenery and wildlife, riding our fun, safe Highland Ponies across Loch Duich, through Ratagan Forest, or trek into the mountains of Glenshiel, including the Five Sisters of Kintail.

Our friendly and experienced staff will ensure that your child has a safe, fun and memorable day to remember!
Isle of Skye Trekking Centre
Get away from the hustle and bustle, and experience the quiet rugged beauty of the Skye countryside from horseback.We are happy to accept all levels of riders from complete novices to advanced riders and ages from 4 years old and up. Friendly, experienced and fully trained staff. One hour treks go out daily at 10am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.45pm. If all these treks are fully booked we may add an additonal trek at 4.00pm. We are open Monday - Saturday (although closed every second saturday due to Pony Club at the stables.
Isle of Skye Golf Club
The Isle of Skye Golf Club is a serious contender for the title of the most picturesque golf club in the world. Nestled between the magnificent Cuillin Mountains and the Isle of Raasay, the immaculately manicured course runs along the shores of the Sound of Raasay where an abundance of wildlife, including whales, golden and sea eagle can often be spotted. The club is located beside the main A87 arterial road between Broadford and Portree and visitors can be assured of a warm welcome.
Lochcarron Golf Club
We are a small club situated in one of the most beautiful spots in the Highlands, just 30minutes drive from the Skye Bridge, on the shores of Loch Carron. The golf course is a short but a demanding one which is suited to all levels of golfers and provides both a good test of golf and a spectacular walk. Being partly along the lochside a player really knows when the wind blows and due to the nature of the course golfers can find themselves playing into the wind, downwind and a crosswind all in the space of three holes.
Skyak Adventures
Skyak Adventures, offers courses, training and expeditions for all, from complete beginners to experienced paddlers, on the beautiful Island of Skye and the surrounding area. When established in 2000, Skyak Adventures was one of the very few companies in the UK specialising only in sea kayaking. Our team of trained experts are at least BCU Level 4 sea kayak specialist coaches who live for their time on the water with you. We know the waters round the Isle of Skye intimately and can guide you to places inaccessible by any other means.
